6 Ways to Get Clear, Glowing Skin—Naturally

Are you looking for ways to get clear skin naturally, without having to resort to harsh, chemical products? Give the following tips a try, and see if you don’t notice clearer, more glowing skin within a few weeks.

1. Colonics for Clear Skin

Chemical-free skin care may include natural products that you trust, but sometimes you have to think beyond your skin. For instance, are you feeling bloated, constipated, or nauseated? If so, your system may be overloaded with toxins. In fact, acne eruptions are often a sign that your body is trying to eliminate excess waste products.

2. Treat Dry Skin

Skin is usually dryer in the winter, which can make acne worse. Dry skin weakens the skin’s natural barrier, which causes the immune system to try to repair the damage. Unfortunately, that means inflammation, which encourages acne. A weakened barrier also allows bacteria and chemicals to more easily penetrate the skin. 

To moisturize, avoid drying soaps and chemical cleansers, hot water, and chemical irritants; invest in chemical-free skin care products; use a humidifier in your bedroom; and try natural oils like grapeseed, lavender, chamomile, and rosemary which are great for oily or acne prone skin. 3. Eat Raw As Much as Possible

Not only does eating raw food help cleanse your system and hydrate your skin, raw food is especially important to maintain during the winter. 

The skin is an organ that is responsible for managing several functions such as protecting you from the elements, trying to hold onto water, regulating body temperature, and getting rid of toxins. A raw food diet supports all of these functions, and makes it easier for skin to repair itself. Raw food also helps the skin protect itself from free radicals, cutting down on hyper-pigmentation and acne outbreaks. Finally, eating raw can help loosen waste and assist your purpose of getting colonics for clear skin even more effective! 

4. Eat More Acne-Fighting Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Consuming foods that tame inflammation can help reduce acne outbreaks. Try green tea, berries, kelp, wild-caught salmon, shiitake mushrooms, avocado, flax, papaya, broccoli, extra virgin olive oil, and sweet potatoes to help clear skin naturally. 

Meanwhile, stay away from inflammatory foods like fast foods, refined foods (white flower, white sugar), processed meats, junk food, and especially dairy products. Also, stay away from high glycemic foods that spike your blood sugar, which causes your body to release more insulin. Spiked insulin levels increase the body’s inflammatory reactions, which can increase acne breakouts. 

Finally, counteract inflammation in the body and in the skin and clear skin naturally by adding anti-inflammatory spices to your food like turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and rosemary.

5. Try Zinc

Did you know that zinc is found in high levels in the skin? Yet according to a 2007 study, zinc is one of the most common mineral deficiencies. The same study found that people with acne were more likely to have low levels of zinc than those who didn’t have acne. Try supplementing with zinc to clear skin naturally—about 400-600 mcg daily. 

You can also try upping your intake of zinc-containing foods like almonds, walnuts, pecans, oatmeal, and dark chocolate.

6. Drink Water with Lemon First Thing Every Day

Water helps flush the toxins out of your body, which can relieve your skin of waste products that tend to encourage acne breakouts. Adding fresh squeezed lemon is a great chemical-free skin care tip that gives your skin some extra fighting power by fighting off bacteria and accelerating healing. Lemons are also rich in antioxidants, which can help protect the skin from pollution and other sources of free radical damage.
